Taura syndrome is a virus disease of penaeid shrimp caused by infection with Taura syndrome virus (TSV). Taura syndrome is one of the major diseases in penaeid shrimp and has had a serious negative impact on the economy of the shrimp farming industry, causing mass mortalities of 40 to 95 % in affected postlarval and juvenile populations.
