Tannerella forsythia is an anaerobic Gram-negative bacterium and, together with Porphyromonas gingivalis and Treponema denticola, a member of the red complex of bacteria most strongly associated with periodontitis. It contributes to the destruction of periodontal tissues and alveolar bone loss. Its detection supports periodontal diagnosis, treatment monitoring and oral microbiome research.
The OneqPCR-realtime™ Tannerella forsythia Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Tannerella forsythia DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
