Polyomavirus JC

The OneqPCR-realtime™ JC Polyomavirus Kit constitutes a ready-to-use system for the detection of JC Polyomavirus by real-time PCR. The assay is designed to detect JC Polyomavirus through the amplification of specific viral DNA targets. JC Polyomavirus is a small, non-enveloped, double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the family Polyomaviridae and is widely distributed in the human population. While infection is generally asymptomatic, viral reactivation in immunocompromised individuals can lead to progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a severe neurological disease. Its detection may therefore be relevant for clinical monitoring and diagnosis, particularly in immunocompromised patients. The kit contains reagents and enzymes for the specific amplification of JC Polyomavirus DNA targets, together with an Internal Control amplification system to identify possible PCR inhibition. The kit also includes a Positive Control PCR mix to ensure reliable assay performance.
