Multiplex Salmonella Typhi & Paratyphi

Salmonella enterica serovars Typhi and Paratyphi cause systemic invasive infections known as typhoid and paratyphoid fever, representing significant global public health threats particularly in developing regions with inadequate sanitation. S. Typhi causes classic typhoid fever characterized by sustained fever, headache, malaise, abdominal symptoms, and potential complications including intestinal perforation and sepsis if untreated. S. Paratyphi causes clinically similar but generally milder paratyphoid fever. Both serovars are highly human-specific and spread through contaminated food and water, with chronic carriers shedding bacteria for months or years.
