Human polyomavirus 7 (HPyV7) is a polyomavirus that infects the skin, mainly keratinocytes, and is chronically shed by many healthy people. In immunosuppressed patients, such as transplant recipients, it has been associated with a pruritic, dyskeratotic skin eruption, and its possible role in other diseases is under investigation. Its detection supports dermatology and transplant medicine research.
The OneqPCR-realtime™ Human Polyomavirus 7 Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Human Polyomavirus 7 DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
