EHP (Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei) is an emerging microsporidian parasite involved in the development on the white faeces síndrome (WFS) in cultured penaeid shrimp. EHP is described as a oblígate intracellular parasite of hepatopancreatic cells. The parasite has been found in several shrimp farming countries in Asia including Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and China, and is reported to be associated with growth retardation in farmed shrimp.
