Enterobacter sakazakii (Cronobacter sakazakii) is a bacterium of the enterobacteria family and belongs to the genus Cronobacter. It is a microorganism with a clear contaminating action that affects especially premature babies and, in general, infants under 6 months of age who receive artificial lactation. This microorganism has been linked to outbreaks of meningitis or enteritis. Surviving infants had severe lasting complications including neurological disorders. The incorrect sterilization of the bottles, the recontamination by a bad hygiene or the contamination of the milk are the factors of greater risk.
