Enterobacter cloacae

Enterobacter cloacae is a Gram-negative bacterium of the Enterobacteriaceae family found in the human intestinal tract and in the environment. It is an important opportunistic and hospital-acquired pathogen that causes urinary tract, respiratory, bloodstream and surgical wound infections, especially in intensive care patients. Its ability to acquire resistance to multiple antibiotics, including carbapenems, makes rapid identification clinically relevant.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Enterobacter cloacae Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Enterobacter cloacae DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
