Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (formerly Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans) is a gram-negative cocobacillus of the Pasteurellaceae family. It is a capnophile microorganism, it grows well in an atmosphere with CO2 or under anaerobic conditions. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitanse is part of the oral cavity microbiota in healthy individuals. It is the main etiologic agent of aggressive forms of periodontitis.
