Human Polyomavirus 6

Human polyomavirus 6 (HPyV6) is a polyomavirus that chronically infects human skin and is shed from the skin surface of a large proportion of healthy people. In immunosuppressed patients it has been associated with a rare, pruritic and dyskeratotic skin eruption. Its detection is of interest for dermatology research and for studying viral infections in transplant recipients.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Human Polyomavirus 6 Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Human Polyomavirus 6 DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
