Wuhan virus

Wuhan virus refers to the novel coronavirus first detected in Wuhan, China, in late 2019, later named SARS-CoV-2 and identified as the cause of COVID-19. It spreads efficiently from person to person through respiratory droplets and aerosols, including from asymptomatic carriers. Real-time RT-PCR detection of viral RNA allows early diagnosis, contact tracing and epidemiological surveillance.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Wuhan virus Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Wuhan virus RNA by one-step real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR): reverse transcription and amplification take place in a single tube. Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
