Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus (TMEV) is a single-stranded RNA murine cardiovirus from the family Picornaviridae. Theiler’s murine encephalomyelitis virus infects the central nervous system of mice and causes a demyelinating disease that is a model for multiple sclerosis.
