Mycoplasma haemocanis (formerly Haemobartonella canis) is a red blood cell parasite that causes disease mainly in immunosuppressed and splenectomized dogs. Haemobartonellosis is a tick transmitted disease that affects both dogs and cats. Infected dogs suffer a wide range of symptoms, from no symptoms, dehydration, and slight anemia to fast heart rates, jaundice, and death.
