Sheep pox and goat pox are viral diseases of sheep a nd goats characterized by fever, generalizednodules or papules, vesicles (rarely), internal lesions (particularly in the lungs), and death. Both diseases are caused by s trains of capripox virus -double s tranded DNA viruses of the genus Capripox virus, (subfamily Chordopoxvirinae)-, all of which can infect goats and sheep.
