Globodera rostochiensis, known as the pale cyst nematode, is another major root parasitic nematode of potato, tomato, and other solanaceous crops with significant global distribution. Similar to G. pallida, this nematode parasitizes roots, causing stunting, yellowing, wilting, and severe yield losses. The nematode forms protective cysts containing hundreds of eggs that remain viable in soil for 10+ years, making long-term soil management necessary.
