Diarrhea is one of the most common medical problems of newborn foals, and equine rotavirus (EQUINE RVA) is the most common cause of foal enteritis in the major breeding centers. Affected foal suffers from weakness, loss of appetite and dehydration. It also suffers from pain due to intestinal cramping. Although most affected foals can be saved by vigorous fluid therapy, the cost of this, the occasional loss of foals and the disruption of farm routine can constitute a considerable drain od resources.
