Eperythrozoon ovis is an uncultivated, wall-less bacterium that parasitizes the surface of sheep erythrocytes. This erythrocytic agent causes haemolytic anaemia in sheep and goats. This organism is transmitted by blood-feeding arthropods and parasitizes animals in sheep-rearing regions throughout the world.
