Clostridium estertheticum is a psychrotolerant, anaerobic, spore-forming bacterium recognized as one of the primary causative agents of blown pack spoilage (BPS) in vacuum-packaged chilled beef. The organism is of major importance to the meat industry due to its ability to grow at refrigeration temperatures, leading to package distension, off-odors, and substantial economic losses without posing a significant public health risk. The kit contains reagents and enzymes for the specific amplification of C. estertheticum DNA targets and an Internal Control amplification system to identify possible PCR inhibition.
