Astroviruses are small, spherical, non-enveloped, positive-sense RNA viruses that cause enteric diseases in mammalian and avian species. Astroviruses of chickens, some of which were originally known as enterovirus-like viruses have been implicated in growth depression problems, including runting stunting syndrome.
