Candidatus Mycoplasma turicensis (CMt) is a Haemotropic mycoplasma. They are uncultivable, cell wall-free bacteria that attach to the red blood cells. The bacterium was discovered in a pet cat with haemolytic anaemia. Studies have documented CMt infections in pet cats and wild felids worldwide using molecular methods.
