Borna disease virus 2 (BoDV-2) is a a member of the species Mammalian 1 orthobornavirus and causes Borna disease, a neurological condition that affects warm-blooded animals, primarily horses and sheep. This pathology courses with ataxia and atypical depressed behavior, and typically ends in death.
