The Trichophyton mentagrophytes complex is a group of septal and keratinolytic filamentous fungi belonging to the Arthrodermataceae family. This group of fungi comprises three related species: Arthroderma benhamiae / Trichophyton erinacei, Arthroderma vanbreuseghemii / Trichophyton interdigitale and Arthroderma simii / Trichophyton mentagrophytes-Trichophyton sp (sexual / asexual form, respectively).
