Microsporum audouinii is an anthropophilic dermatophyte common in Africa. It typically causes tinea capitis and tinea corporis in children. It is a type of dermatophyte that colonizes keratinized tissues (primarily hair) causing infection. Tinea capitis is seen in tropical, rural and suburban regions.
