Yellow-head virus (YHV) is a highly virulent pathogen of Penaeus monodon shrimp. YHV can induce up to 100% mortality in infected P.monodon ponds within 3 days of the first appearance of clinical signs. YHV is highly infectious for most known species of cultivated penaeid prawns.
