Wuhan coronavirus

Wuhan coronavirus is one of the names initially given to SARS-CoV-2, the betacoronavirus identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic. It infects the respiratory tract through the ACE2 receptor and can cause illness ranging from mild symptoms to severe pneumonia. Detection of viral RNA by real-time RT-PCR is the reference method for confirming infection and for surveillance.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Wuhan coronavirus Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Wuhan coronavirus RNA by one-step real-time RT-PCR (qRT-PCR): reverse transcription and amplification take place in a single tube. Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
