Trichinella spiralis

Category: ,

SKU: V348

Type: qPCR Kit, qPCR Pathogen Detection Kit, qRT-PCR Kit

Trichinella spiralis is a parasitic nematode and the main cause of trichinellosis worldwide. Its larvae encyst in the striated muscle of pigs, wild boar, rodents, horses and other mammals, and humans become infected by eating raw or undercooked meat. Infection can cause gastrointestinal symptoms, muscle pain and fever and, in severe cases, myocarditis or encephalitis. Its detection is key to meat safety and veterinary public health programmes.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Trichinella spiralis Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Trichinella spiralis DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
