Trichinella britovi is a parasitic nematode found mainly in wild carnivores and wild boar in Europe and parts of Asia and Africa. It is the second most common cause of human trichinellosis after T. spiralis and is transmitted by eating raw or undercooked meat from infected wild boar, pigs or horses. Its larvae are relatively tolerant to freezing, and species identification is important for meat safety and epidemiological surveillance.
The OneqPCR-realtime™ Trichinella britovi Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Trichinella britovi DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
