Human Polyomavirus 9

Human polyomavirus 9 (HPyV9) is a polyomavirus first identified in the serum of a kidney transplant recipient and later detected in skin and other samples. It is closely related to the African green monkey lymphotropic polyomavirus, and its role in human disease is still unknown. Its detection is of interest for research on polyomavirus infections, particularly in immunocompromised patients.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Human Polyomavirus 9 Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Human Polyomavirus 9 DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
