Cryptosporidium muris

Cryptosporidium muris is a protozoan parasite that infects the gastric glands of rodents, especially mice and rats, and has also been reported in other mammals and occasionally in humans. Infections are often subclinical but can cause gastric changes and prolonged oocyst shedding that spreads the parasite within a colony. It is a relevant agent in the health monitoring of laboratory animal facilities.

The OneqPCR-realtime™ Cryptosporidium muris Kit is a ready-to-use assay for the specific detection of Cryptosporidium muris DNA by real-time PCR (qPCR). Specific primers and a FAM-labelled hydrolysis probe amplify the target, while an internal control detected in the HEX channel reveals possible PCR inhibition or extraction failure. Positive and negative controls are included, and results can be analysed qualitatively or quantitatively using a standard curve.
