Anaplasma platys is an obligate intracellular gram-negative bacteria that causes Infectious Canine Cyclic Thrombocytopenia, usually transmitted through the bite of infected brown ticks. The detection of A. platys inclusion bodies in platelets of species other than dogs is seldom described. However, DNA analysis in cats with inclusión Bodies similar to A.plantys confirmed infection with different strains of this organism.
