Genital human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection. The higher prevalence of high-risk HPV oncogenic types 16, 18, 31, 33, 35, 45, 51, 52, 58, 59, is in Africa and Latin America. HPV 16 is the most common in the world except Indonesia and Algeria where HPV 18 is the most common. HPV 45 has high frequency in Western Africa. HPV types 33, 39 and 59 are concentrated in Central and South America.
