Botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs) are the most toxic agents known. These toxins are responsible for botulism, a disease characterized by flaccid paralysis. Seven antigenically distinct BoNTs are known (types A to G), and BoNT types A, B, E, and F are the principal types associated with human botulism. High fecal carriage rates of C. botulinum among apparently healthy dairy animals especially type A alarm both veterinary and public health communities for a potential role which may be played by dairy animals in the epidemiology of such pathogen. The Clostridium botulinum type A and B multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) kit detects the genes for the major toxins of Clostridium botulinum type A and B on the basis of a genetic database, so it can diagnose very fast and accurately.
